This was a texture project that I was assigned in my Color & Design class recently. I used charcoals and black conté crayons to rub different textures onto tracing paper, which I then cut and glued onto the illustration board.
For the hat, I used the surface of a vase, then layered stripes on top of it with rubbings from a textured wallpaper. The sweater is also from a separate section of the same wallpaper. The hair was used from a wrinkly scarf, I used my refrigerator for the skin, and the wall for the little pom-pom things on the hat. I used the sole of my shoe for the undies, and the heel of one of my boots for the thigh high socks. The floor is made up of sections from the tiled floor of my shower, and the cat is made from a napkin! Although I was really skeptical of the project at first, overall I’d say that I loved doing it and I think it turned out great! By the time I finished at 4:30 in the morning, my face and hands were covered in black smudges and dried glue!!!

I love this, Teddy Ballgame is my favorite player of all time. The best hitter of his time, one of the ten best fishermen of his time, and one of the one hundred best fighter pilots of his time. Crazy to think about how well rounded he was. A true american hero.
